Race for the Cure

Today Becky, Anglea and I ran in the Susan G. Komen 5K. As you can see it was freezing! I'm pretty sure it was in the 30's. I've wanted to run in a 5K before but never did because I didn't want to run alone. So when Becky invited me I didn't really have any valid excuses. Two weeks ago I ran 3.1 miles for the first time in my life! Needless to say I was a little nervous about keeping up with the girls, but Becky promised she wouldn't take off and leave me behind. There were so many people in front of us that we got off to a slow start, but after a little off-roading we past most of the walkers. It was really cold and windy but overall the run was not that bad. I finished in 29 minutes which I was pleased with after only two weeks of training and 6 runs at 3.1 miles. Anglea finished in 26 minutes and Becky in 28 - she could've finished faster, but she kept her word.

Jill, I am so proud of you. Thank you for participating in this very important cause. (P.S. I knew you would have a respectable finish time...you're way too athletic and competitive to embarass yourself!)
