Basketball
I heard someone once say "if you can't do it well ~ do it cute!" Fortunately for Bailey's sake she has managed both. It's time again for rec basketball and once again Bailey is one of the best players on her team ~ pretty good especially considering she's the second smallest. She's amazing defensively and just happens to be one of our leading scorers too. It's so much fun to watch her play and Jeremy is convinced she will have no problem making the 7th grade "A" team.
Home Renovations
When Jeremy and I bought this house we were excited to be able to do a little hands on comsetic fix-up. Well, we quickly realized that's not really our deal. So we worked on the house for about three weeks straight before the "fixing" began to tapper off. You might ask why I would take a picture of my ceiling??? Well, we thought it would be a great idea to scrap off the old popcorn ceiling to make the room look more modern. That ended up being a disaster and thankfully Jesse was able to fix that mess for us. Apparently you can't scrape off your ceiling unless you intend to re-float it. Of course all that was done with the intent of painting our bedroom walls and ceiling. Unfortunaltely we sort of ran out of steam before we quite made it to the paint part. So since August of 2006 I have had painter's tape covering the crown molding in my bedroom. I decided enough was enough and I'm determined to get that tape down soon. We're not quite there but we are making progress. Hopefully I'll be posting the finished picture soon.

D-Now 2008
This weekend Riley and Nadirah got to attend their first Disciple Now with our church. It's a three day weekend for the youth to spend some quality time with each other and Christ. This year's theme was Transformed meaning from the inside out. It got the kids really focused on living a life that's different because of their relationship with Christ and making their faith alive; taking a head knowledge and transforming it to the heart through actions, thoughts and words. Then it's topped off with a lot of food, fun & friends. Needless to say they both had a great time!

Girls Night In
Last night both the boys were gone so the girls decided it was perfect time for some reality tv. We all got in our pj's early, ate dinner in the living room, baked brownies for dessert and cuddled up on the couch. Nadirah has really been looking forward to the new season of American Idol so we started our marathon with that before proceeding to Deal or No Deal followed by Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader. Wow, I don't think I've ever watched that much tv in one sitting!
Bailey's Braces ~ She Looks Soooo Cute!!
On Wednesday I picked Bailey up early from school and we headed to the orthodontist for Phase 1 of her orthodontic treatment. She seemed a little nervous, but she handled it like a champ. There were parts that were obviously quite uncomfortable but even her dental hygienist said she was her best patient of the day. At times I thought she was maybe in a little too much pain because she was kinda' squeamish in the chair but since her mouth was full she didn't have any way to tell me and we just pressed on. Of course her immediate concern when leaving was food ~ no surprises there! I thought macaroni and cheese would be a great option since it's her favorite food and it's soft, but that proved to be a little to difficult with all the new appliances ~ so the mac and cheese ended with tears. Luckily we were prepared for this so I got right to making her a chocolate shake which quickly adjusted her mood. Basically all night she was able to eat anything she wanted and could manage which ended up consisting of lots of ice cream:)

Bowling
Today me, Nadirah, Bailey, Colleen and Tarrah went bowling ~ no boys allowed! Tarrah actually plays in a league so she wanted to take the girls. We played two games and though I started off terrible I ended my first game with a turkey in the tenth frame then started off my second game with a strike too ~ just in case anyone's counting that makes four strikes in a row for me! The girls took a minute to master their form, but they managed to have a couple decent games too. Colleen started off strong but didn't quite manage to break 100 the second go round. Of course Tarrah won both games, but we kinda' figured that's how it would end.
Tournament Champions!!!
This weekend was Riley's first basketball tournament. The boys all played great and ended up winning first place. The first couple of games were a breeze and we won by over twenty points. However, the championship game was against a really good team with a kid who is easily over 6 feet tall. It was a really great, close game but the Comanches ended up with the victory by over ten points. Riley took and made two foul shots during the fourth quarter at a very critical point in the game. We were up at this point but not by much and the momentum could have easily changed had he missed those shots. I was so excited because the boys won a trophy and a banner! I can't wait to see it hanging in the gym.

All the way from North Carolina
On the 26th my little brother Justin, his wife Lori and daughter Jordan flew in from North Carolina for a visit. This was our first time to meet baby Jordan and she is super sweet!! We basically spent all week at Jesse's house playing games, Wii, goofing around, eating and of course lots of talking and reminiscing. Now that they're gone I realize we should've taken more pictures ~ typical. But we'll try again this summer. Justin keeps reminding me now it's our turn to go to North Carolina and I'm all about the sun and the beach!!
