Pumpkin Carving

Last night we got together with Jesse and Colleen to carve pumpkins. It's always so messy; Bailey's hands were completely orange. Colleen was very secretive with her design and wouldn't let anyone see until she was finished even though Uncle Jesse kept trying to steal a look. While everyone was carving I made homemade chocolate chips cookies. I'm only good for the usual triangle faced pumpkin so I thought it'd be best to let everybody else give it a shot. I think they turned out pretty good. My kids love spending time with family so they were super excited to have them over. Bailey is already trying to convince them to trick or treat with us too.

Bedtime???

I thought this was so funny I just had to share. Bailey usually sleeps with only one or two stuffed animals and she only considers Boo, Cracker, Zoey and Henry worthy of the bed. She's actually always been a little stingy with her space and when she was little like two and three she insisted on her animals being with her, but they were only allowed at the foot of the bed. As usual Jeremy and I tucked her in, turn on her night light and fan, then open the door. So when we went back to turn off her night light and open the door this is the way we found her. You can't tell completely from the pictures but she has almost every stuffed animal she ownded in that bed with her. They're even laying on her and stuffed all around her under the covers.

The Pumpkin Patch

I had this great idea to take the kids to a pumpkin patch. I actually remember going when I was little so I thought they'd really enjoy it. I had envisioned some country farm with a pumpkin patch surrounded by woods. We'd walk around taking our time, go on a hayride, etc... So I do my research and find "The Best" Pumpkin Patch in Tarrant County (I think that's where the problem comes in). As we get closer we can see the huge line of cars waiting to get in ~ still we decide to go for it. We finally get a parking spot, start walking around and realize pretty quickly this pumpkin patch a.k.a. carnival is really geared for toddlers. It was sooo crowded, there were definitely not any woods being that it's located off the side of a highway! After about 15 minutes we left. Oh and by the way without a pumpkin. They were so expensive! I can not believe people will pay $20 for a pumpkin that's going to rot in a week. Now I'm not one to be cheap but that just seemed outrageous to me. Anyway, the kids were really eager to go so we went to our city pumpkin patch (Kroger) and got two pumpkins for under $10. I was actually able to get the one photo without any people in it, which was amazing in and of itself.

4th Grade Scientist

Every nine weeks Bailey will have to be the "scientist of the day" in her class. Last Friday Bailey and her first grade helper got to perform an experiment in front of the first and fourth grade classes. Bailey decided to do a project on air pressure. Riley gave her the idea from swimming at Ryan's. The boys put a bucket over their head and then have a friend stand up on top of it to push them down under the water. Of course the air pressure keeps the water out of the bucket so they can breathe under water. As any good mom would I expressed my concerns of drowning to Riley. His reply "mom you can just swim out from the bottom you're not stuck" ~ can't argue with that. So Bailey demonstrated this with a plastic cup, piece of paper and a bucket of water. Her viewers were impressed.

See You At the Pole

Last Wednesday was SYATP ~ it's a national day of prayer that is student led. The kids meet before school at their flag pole to pray for their faith, friends, school, etc... This year was Riley's first year to participate and his youth pastor asked if I'd stop by the school to take some pictures. Riley told me that it started at 7:30. Well, he was wrong! By 8:00 I'm freaking out wondering where all the kids are and am disappointed that the football coaches didn't let the players go. So I call Jeremy in panic mode, telling him I'm ready to move because I can't believe that there aren't any kids that showed up, etc... I tend to overact a little:) Anyway, come to find out there are two flag poles and I was just at the wrong one.
