Valentine's Day
I know you don't need a day that is set aside to tell the people you love how much they mean to you, but I have no intention of missing a day that is set aside for that purpose. My family loves holidays and celebrating and having reasons to do special things for one another and Valentine's just give us another reason to do so. Bailey made each of us a card that was filled with sweet words and special pictures. Of course, I cried reading mine :) I decided to make Bailey her gift since she is always so thoughtful to make ours. It took a lot of time, but it was totally worth it. Being the second born it's a little harder to "surprise" her with things so this was something that was just for her and hadn't been done before. I always make the kids a heart shaped breakfast and this year I chose Riley's favorite, french toast. The strawberries are supposed to make the shape of a heart too. Jess love turtles, so I made the turtle cake for her. Riley also got the news that his car was totaled and he was really sad, so Jess filled his cars with balloons. On each was written a special memory they'd shared.

Riley's Car Wreck
Definitely one of the scariest phone calls I've ever received was Riley calling to tell me he'd been in a serious accident. It had been misting for awhile so the roads were wet when Riley drove over a slick spot on the road and lost control of his car. He was traveling through a construction zone so he thinks he must have hit something that caused him to lose control. His car spun toward oncoming traffic but hit the median which popped his tire and then spun him the opposite way completely across all three lanes of traffic before ending up facing traffic on the side of the road. Just as he leaned to ask Jess if she was okay they both saw a truck lose control in the same spot he did. A couple more cars spun out of control and ended up being like a four or five car pile-up. It was so dangerous that they had to move from his vehicle to hide behind a concrete slab until the police and ambulance arrived. It took us awhile to get to them because we weren't home. They were both pretty shaken up and scared. Riley ended up with a concussion. I am so grateful that God protected them from major harm. I pray often that they be protected from any major accident, injury or illness and I truly believe that God was answering that prayer for me that evening!!

My Birthday
I have the absolute sweetest, most thoughtful children. They know how much I love my birthday so they go all out. This year Bailey started with a super sweet Instagram collage and brought me a mostly healthy snack with a few of my favorite things. They decorated the house with streamers, balloons, and made a giant Happy Birthday sign to hang. Riley played me a song that reminds him of me and I got amazing gifts as usual. To finish off the evening Jess wrote me a super sweet card. Oh, and I learned that my fingers are messed up and I can't make a heart sign ;)

Superbowl XLVII
The kids love celebrating, so Jeremy and I threw them a surprise Superbowl party! All of the food had some sort of football themed design. I think we've just stumbled onto a new family tradition.
